Post m416 Trailer Build
I was able to locate and purchase a 1960s m416 1/4 ton military trailer that I'm planning to convert to an expedition trailer to pull behind the Xterra. Although I've had the trailer for a while, I'm just know getting started on the build. I'll update as I begin to finish pieces of it.

Original Trailer-not actually mine but an original m416

Very nice...jealous! I bet Leann is proud!

Like to see it in person sometime......pull it to my house when you do your timing belt. Just write "transit" on a piece of cardboard to mount on the trailer when you pull it....you need to give it a test drive anyways right?

Have you decided to do the undercoating yourself or hire it out?

Could you edit the pictures to show the full picture instead of the "mini" size? :shakin:

I'd be more than happy to bring it over. I think that I will probably Rhino-line it myself due to cost. I was concerned about having to roll it and not being able to get in between joints but I did find a rattle-can option for it that should help in that regard.

I'm not sure how to change the picture size or I'd be more than happy to!

I've made some more progress on the trailer. I sent it to a boat dealer this evening to have a canvas cover made for the top of it. The trailer has been a work in progress and still has a ways to go, but it's getting close to seeing it's first trip!

Nice job Jeff :pint: ...let me know when your ready to do the lights. You should post your trailer build on the XOC or somewhere to get some attention for your hardwork.

Thanks Matt. I think that I've decided on the lights and will need to get them on and hooked up to get this thing licensed!

I found some oval LEDs that I like. I got the cover finished today! Pretty happy with it and decided to use the existing hooks instead of snaps to secure it.

Yeah, the AT trailers are super nice! I would like to do a rack system of some sort down the road. I still have my Yakima basket that I'd like to mount on the top of the trailer....I think. A RTT would be nice though!
