An Xterra Club? Are you serious? This is the #1 question we get asked. People tend to be in disbelief that we all get together because we own the same vehicle. Then when we tell them we all met online and went camping with strangers, they think we're nuts. Well guess what--maybe we are! But we all bought Xterras because we support the Xterra principles of enjoying the great outdoors with ruggedness and a sense of style, so it makes perfect sense to us why we're in this club.

Your pictures look scary. Am I going to damage my Xterra if I come out with your club? Not necessarily. Each member does what he feels comfortable with and is not pressured into doing more. None of us knew what we were doing when we started, but with experience we started trying more technical trails. If you're not sure, you're welcome to come out and ride with one of us. Plus we try to maintain a well-rounded calendar of activities (called Xcursions) in addition to offroading, including camping, hiking, canoeing and partying!  However, please be aware that you are responsible for everything you do to your vehicle while out with the club.  Not to scare anyone off, but if you do offroad enough eventually you will get some nicks and dings.  Most members have some scratches for branches on trails and some have had major repairs for damage.
My Xterra is stock, can I make it offroading?

You bet. Many of our members are stock and have done all the same trails as the guys with extensive modifications.   It's amazing the reaction people on the trails have when we show up and take stock trucks up trails they do in built up offroad rigs.
What should my first modifications be? Different people will tell you different things, but the bare minimum you must have is a handheld FRS radio, which is how we all communicate on Xcursions. Motorola FRS radios with subcodes are the most widespread type in the club.  Another simple but good addition  is rubber/all-season floor mats. This will save your carpet from the mud we often encounter. The first truck mod I would recommend is new tires.  Good tires make the single biggest improvement in the offroad capabilities of the Xterra.  Most of the members mount a good all terrain tire.  Members that take offroading more seriously step up to dedicated offroad tires or mud tires.
How can I become a member? It's easy, check out our Join page for more information.  The only major requirement is that you own an Xterra, no Frontiers, Jeeps, Landcruisers, etc.  It's in the name of the club we for Xterras only.
What areas does your club cover? We currently have members in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Arkansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. We try to make our Xcursions central to most people, with occasional trips that are a little farther.
What kind of people join HXOC? One of the greatest things about our club is the diversity of our members. We represent a wide variety of career and personal interests, yet we all enjoy going out and having some fun in our Xterras.
